Who Do You Think You Are?

My Name is Ryan Gillett. I was born on September 24th, 2001 at St. Michael's Hospital in Mississauga, but I never lived there. I grew up in Georgetown, Ontario, in a detached subdivision home that my mom had bought. When I was six, we moved to Orangeville, where my aunt on my mom's side of the family lived with her family. Instead of buying a house, we bought land and built one.

Christmas, Easter, other holidays, and birthdays are often celebrated at my grandparents's (mom's side) place in Etobicoke. My grandparents, being Austrian, would make schnitzel for these celebrations. They lived in Austria until they were around 20 years old, but moved to Canada in order to make lives for themselves after the war.

Who do you think you are?

My name is Oliver Ross Naftel and I was born on March 5 2001. I only have one sister who is 9 years older than me and her name is Chloe. I also have a mom, Sherry, a dad, Colin, and a cat.

Who Do You Think You Are??

My name is Myles Andrew Donald Howell, commonly known as Mills to my friends. I was born in Orangeville Ontario on September 4th, 2001. Before I was born, my parents lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba where my brother was born and where my relatives all currently live. Growing up, I was never really around my relatives since they all lived in different provinces, but they would visit us and vise versa. We lived in a small townhouse in eastern Orangeville that had 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a small living room. As a child, my oldest relative (my grandpa's sister) lived to be 100 years old exactly. She was always up and moving, even at the age she was.

Liam Smith

My full name is Liam Samuel Smith. My name originally was supposed to be billy,  but my mom was not a huge fan. Liam comes from the actor Liam Neeson.  I was born in Orangeville hospital on april 6th 2001. I have always been an athletic kid, ever since i was 4 years old I have been playing hockey, and since I was 6 I have been playing lacrosse. My family is Irish, my parents both immigrated to Canada in 1987.

My full name is Brock Jessie Jason Giles, my two middle names are after my grandmother and my father. I was born in The Orangeville hospital and my family also grew up here. I've played lacrosse since I was 5 and continue to pursue it. When I was six I was ran over by a car and suffered what the doctor called, a "bruised brain". The rest is history.

Who Do you Think you Are?

My full name is Nicole Victoria Isabelle Hannaford. My parents selected my first name because it was one of my mothers favourites, and it is also the middle name of my godmother. They selected Victoria because I was born on Victoria Day, and Isabelle because that was the name of my oldest living grandparent on my father’s side. They chose three names because that was the tradition among my father and his siblings. My sister has three given names as well: Caitlin Olivia Joy Hannaford. I was born at the Toronto General Hospital on May 24, 2001. We lived in a side-split in the York Mills area of Toronto. I attended Owen Public School while living there. We had an Italian greyhound named Remy while we were living in Toronto. My father works for Proctor and Gamble, and there is an office in Toronto, so that’s why we were living there. We moved to Orangeville when I was around 7 years old.

Dakota Zarudny

My full name is Dakota Zane Zarudny. My parents thought that i could have been named Zach or Dakota. My father liked the name Zane, but my mother preferred that my middle name would be Zane and they would call me Dakota. Growing up I have been called daks, because of one of my hockey coaches and after that the name stuck. I participated in AAA hockey since I was 10, and I also played soccer for Orangeville and later on Caledon. I currently ponly play hockey as I quit soccer 3 years ago.

Who Do You Think You Are?
My name is Aaron, I’m 16, and I was born in Orangeville, Ontario. Growing up my friends and I would play road hockey after school all year round until the streetlights came on. My first dog’s name was Kelsey, she was a dark red colour and a female. My second dog was named Max, he was male and was a gold colour.

Who Do You Think You Are?

On August 1st, 2001, at 12:07pm I was born in the old Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton, Ontario. My parents hadn't chosen my name until I was born, but they knew that my middle name was going to be Hope. They decided on Kaelah Hope Lovegrove, because my dad always loved the name Kayla and my mum wanted to give it a unique spelling just so that I would have something to prove that I was different. Lovegrove is my dad's last name, and I was always told as a child that it means tree hugger, or lover of the forest. When I was 10 though, my parents had told me that it was just a fib they told me. Lovegrove is derived from before the 7th century in Olde England. It translates to "Beloved-Spear" and survived being changed and altered through times of undesired war names. My mum's surname is Piekarz, which translates directly to "Baker" in polish.
One of the stories I was always told as a child about my ancestors was that my third great grandfather tried to join the war at fifteen years old, and he got away with it! The people administrating the war then realized he was only fifteen and sent him home until he was eighteen so that he could legally join the war one day. He waited those three years until he was eighteen and went to the war and unfortunately died a couple months later. I always used to look at his picture in my basement when I was younger. Also when I was small, I got the chicken pox. I think I was about six years old at the time and I remember the lotion that was going to help me get better felt like needles. Being a six year old, I had one of those towels that you wrap around yourself and it has a hood, so that you look like a duck. One night, in the very worst of my pox, my younger sister tried to put on my towel, and she did not know how. As her big sister I thought it was my job to teach her something like that and so I ran to the bathroom and said "Here! Here is how you put it on!". My parents were so mad, because I ruined the towel with my chicken pox and then we had to throw it out.

Who do you think you are?

My full name is Grace Margaret Lu Bellamy. My parents chose my first name, because my dad suggested it for my sister, but my mom didn't like it for her. She liked the name for me instead. Margaret is after my great grandmother on my dad's side. Lu is after my given name in China. I was born in Yulin, China on December 26, 2001. I lived in an orphanage until I was one, which is when my parents adopted me.  One of my earliest childhood memories was in kindergarten when I barfed on the principal. I used to throw up a lot as a kid, so it wasn't a surprise when my parents found out. In elementary school, whenever the principal would see me she would always remind me of that moment.

A typical family dinner would be my mom cooking, I occasionally help, and us all sitting at a table together. The typical small talk of how everyone's day is. Ever since my sister has decided to become vegetarian (eventually vegan) my mom has been trying out new vegetarian recipes. Lets just say my dad isn't a big fan. After dinner my dad and I clean up, since my mom made the food. Something I want people to remember me by would be my accomplishments. I want to make a difference to someones life for the better.
